At the same time as "Dead Stars“ in Scandinavia and the US this Maxi CD was only released in Germany. “Der Leiermann” is musically identical with “Like Tears in Rain” (“United States of Mind”).
The lyrics are part of the “Winterreise” by Wilhelm Müller [1794-1827]. In 1827 the “Winterreise” was musically realized for the first time as a part of the song cycles “Die Winterreise” by Franz Schubert.
